Swedish-African forest relations

In the late 1980s there were at any one year well over 75 Swedish forestry experts working in Africa. Today, there are only around ten Swedish forestry experts working in Africa and the considerable experience and network of contacts that were build up during the period 1975–1990 are rapidly being lost. It is hoped that this report may contribute to a reawakened interest in again permitting Swedish know-how and comparative advantages in building capacity and institutions contribute to a real economic development oriented Sustainable Forest Management push in Africa. Food security and the futures of farms – 2020 and toward 2050

This report of the Bertebos Conference 2010 outlines challenges and long-term outlooks for food security and the futures of farms. Speakers from China, Ethiopia, India, Brazil and Russia give their views on how small and large scale agriculture are developing in their countries and continents. Trends and possible scenarios for the future are presented. Certain threats will be overcome – others require urgent action.
