| The Academy has committees and working groups that continuously follow the development in their respective sectors. They take initiatives in specific questions, engage specialists for presentation of facts, and function as advisory bodies within the land based industries. Over the years the Academy has received several donations, donated to provide funding of research grants, scholarships and awards that are presented to deserving representatives of forestry and agriculture - both in the practical field as well as in the theoretical field. One important task of the Academy is to encourage particularly younger scientists by dispensing research grants and scholarships through its funds. The three sections - The General Section, The Agricultural Section and the Forestry Section - carry out the activities within the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. There is also a library and an archive specializing in agrarian history. The Academy is a fully independent organization and is financed - apart from a minor state grant provided as a remuneration for certain services - by income from its own funds. The General Section deals with questions concerning all the land based industries, especially natural resources, nature management, research policy, dissemination of knowledge, planning of society, economy, fisheries and tourism, as well as questions within industries and science that specifically concern agriculture or forestry. The Agricultural Section deals with questions concerning production, processing and marketing in theory and practice, including specific educational and advisory questions within agriculture, horticulture and veterinary medicine. The Forestry Section deals with questions that directly concern silviculture and utilization of the forest as a natural resource, including industry and marketing in theory and practice, together with specific educational and advisory questions. The Library of the Academy (KSLAB) is a library specialised in scientific research literature concerning agriculture, forestry and their related fields. The library focuses mainly on researchers at all levels within the field of agricultural and forest history as well as on the Academy members. The Journal of the Academy (KSLAT) contains reports on discussions from the Academy meetings, conferences and other such occasions.
