På grund av det rådande läget är seminariet den 25 mars inställt och flyttas fram till hösten 2020
On June 28, 2019, an agreement in principle on a free trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur states (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) was reached. The intentions of the agreement are manifold: to remove barriers for trade, especially for smaller companies in the EU; strengthen labour rights; increase environmental protection; get companies to act more responsibly; meet higher food requirements; protect EU products with labelling of origin; create work opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
The new agreement has created a market for 780 million people. It also sets high standards, and establishes a framework, for environmental and labour law, as well as upholding commitments on sustainable development that have already been made, e.g. under the Paris Agreement and Agenda 2030.
The Board Committee for International Relations Issues at KSLA has chosen Latin America and Mercosur as focus in an attempt to better understand the opportunities and challenges that the new trade agreement can pose for the development of the green industries in Sweden and Mercosur. The seminar will provide an opportunity to survey a multifaceted development in Mercosur for the coming years. Arranged in cooperation with SIANI.
