The Agreement on Agriculture under the World Trade Organization (WTO) sets rules for both border policies and domestic policies that support agricultural producers. The picture of which governments support producers in what ways through domestic policies, and by how much, has changed greatly over 30 years.

In this round-table conversation, Lars Brink, Independent Advisor and Fellow of the Academy, will draw on his 2023 co-authored book, titled Agricultural Domestic Support under the WTO: Experience and Prospects, to highlight important features in domestic support under the WTO Agreement on Agriculture and discuss the potential for accommodating newer priorities. Comments will be provided by Alan Matthews, Professor Emeritus, Trinity College, Ireland, and Agata Galinska, Acting Head of Unit, European Commission.
