Trees for the future

In the 2010s, the Academy created two tree plantations: one deciduous, the other coniferous. The deciduous plantation is located here. The coniferous plantation is situated a short way along the small road.

The hardwood deciduous park includes every variety of hardwood deciduous tree in Sweden. The park is fenced to prevent deer and elk from damaging the young trees. Barrexot park includes planted coniferous trees, primarily varieties of spruce, that are produced by Swedish forestry or used in parks.

Today, it is hard to find the right timber, wood shingles and birch-bark to maintain and renovate historic buildings. The Academy promotes sustainable development, and leads by example, in the production of these building materials. Its forestry management plan allows trees to be felled for building conservation.
Inventory of possible timber trees for Barksätter’s material bank, which will assist with materials for the renovation of cultural buildings.
