The aim was to facilitate dialogue among experts representing different views related to forest management and climate change mitigation, to help advance scientific understanding, and to identify knowledge gaps and priorities for future research and data collection.

Ekosystemtjänster är samlingsnamnet för nyttor som människor får av naturen. Begreppet har fått stort genomslag i debatt och politik men blir alltid en jämförelse mellan äpplen och päron och är av begränsat värde för en förvaltare av skog. Det tillför främst ny terminologi, inte ny kunskap.
