For Sweden as a forest nation, what is happening on the international political arena on issues related to forests and forestry is of key importance. In recent years this has become particularly evident in the framework of international climate cooperation, where forest resources are identified as part of the solution to the climate problem. The purpose of this report is to contribute to the understanding of international forest policy and how this affects Sweden and Swedish forestry. The report provides an overview of the most important international agreements and other political processes that in various ways are linked to forests and forestry. It mainly focuses on intergovernmental cooperation and has a Swedish perspective as its point of departure. The work has been coordinated by the Secretariat for International Forestry Issues (SIFI) at the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. It has been financially supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), the Swedish Federation of Forest Owners, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Swedish Forest Industries, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)/the Forest Initiative and the Royal Academy.

Vid KSLAs workshop Jakten på den gröna marknadskraften – del 2, deltog representanter från industri, jordbruk, skogsbruk, naturskydd, myndigheter och forskning och diskuterade nästa generations styrmedel som väver samman miljö och marknad till gagn för konkurrenskraft och miljömål. Målet var att ge kunskap så att Norden inom EU och inom WTO kan bidra till ett grönare regelverk, exempelvis inför nästa omgång EU-program 2014.
This is a report from the “Climate and the Forest Committee”, appointed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry (KSLA) to promote the interest of climate change issues among scientists and forest managers. The committee identified a need for a comprehensive literature review as a starting point for their work, culminating in this report.
Nitton organisationer utarbetade under 2004 med Kungl. Skogs- och Lantbruksakademien(KSLA) som plattform ett gemensamt dokument med visioner för inriktning av och innehåll i den framtida forskningen och innovationsverksamheten inom den gröna sektorn. Dokumentet utgick från den gröna sektorns omfattande betydelse för landets välstånd nu och i framtiden, den gröna sektorns förmåga att förbättra välstånd och samtidigt utveckla ekonomisk, ekologisk och social hållbarhet samt nuvarande FoU-verksamhetens status inom den gröna sektorn.
